Despite deleting extra copies of the app, still conflicting
Apparently I have a conflicting version of 1Password. Despite deleting from applications and download folders, and disconnecting Time Cap, each time I download a new version, I only get the old one.
1Password Version: 5.5 beta
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: OSX 10.11.2
Sync Type: none

Hi @drosendale ,
We are pleased to let you know that we have just released version 6 of 1Password. In it includes a fix for the very issue you are having. The next time there is an update, and you have multiple copies, it will tell you where those copies are located. But to get this new version, we recommend you download and install it from here: https://agilebits.com/onepassword
After you install it and get it up and running, you can try choosing "Check for Updates" from the 1Password menu, and it will show you where your other copies are located. Then you can remove them for next time.
Please let us know how it works out.
Cheers,

Kevin, I downloaded the 6.0 version and got this error:
douglas rosendale, We've got a problem
The system launched an incorrect version of 1Password mini
Instead of 'Applications/1Password 6.app/Contents/
LoginItems' it started '/Applications/1Password5.app/
Contents/Library/LogninItems'.0 -
Its telling you that the 2 copies you have, installed are
- 1Password 6
- 1Password 5
When 1Password 6 started up it incorrectly started part of 1Password 5, specifically the mini app that runs in the menubar.
To solve the issue quit 1Password and the mini app.
Fully quit the mini app:
- Click the mini icon in the menubar and select the gear icon , then select Quit 1Password mini under the menu. This will quit the mini app and the 1Password main application.
- Remove the 1Password 5.app by dragging the app to the trash. * Please, do not use an app cleaner, they have at times become over zealous and removed users data files.
- Empty the trash.
- Launch 1Password 6.

Hi @drosendale,
I'm sorry you're getting that error when opening 1Password! As thightower explained, the error message is telling you where both copies of the 1Password app are located - in this case, 1Password 5.app and 1Password 6.app are both in the Applications folder on your Mac, and you'll need to delete 1Password 5.app.
In case you're curious, this problem is actually due to a strange issue in Yosemite and El Capitan which causes it to open the wrong copy of 1Password mini when it finds multiple copies of the 1Password app. Unfortunately there's not much we can do because OS X determines which instance of 1Password mini to run, despite us telling it the right one. But once you only have one copy of the 1Password app, it will work just fine.
Hopefully thightower's steps are helpful for you, but if you have more questions about that, please let us know! :)
