An error occurred while resetting iCloud data

In version 6.01, each attempt to reset iCloud data (to prevent merging a new file with a years old file) results in this error:

Failed to reset iCloud data:
An error occurred while resetting iCloud data:

The operation couldn’t be completed. (CKErrorDomain error 9.)

What can I do?

@Morkano2110: Sorry for the trouble! There may not be anything we can do since iCloud is rejecting the reset request, but the best thing to do will be to generate a diagnostic report and send it to support+forums@agilebits.com so we can look at the logs to hopefully gain some insight:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)

Just be sure to include a link to this forum thread and your username in the email so we can 'connect the dots'. Thanks in advance! :)

    Hi @Morkano2110,

I too can recreate this error when trying to delete the 1Password iCloud data from the AgileBits Store version of 1Password for Mac so we can bypass asking you for a diagnostic report on this occasion.

Instead, may I suggest the following workaround.

    1. Open System Preferences > iCloud.
    2. Click on the Manage... button.
    3. Select the 1Password entry in the list on the left hand side.
    4. Click the Delete Documents and Data button that appears on the right hand side and confirm that you want to delete the 1Password data from iCloud.

This will have the same effect as the Help > Troubleshooting > Reset iCloud Data menu option but in a more manual way. You will then be free to connect to iCloud sync and have it create a new iCloud container and not attempt to merge with the old one.

We'll need to fix this of course but at least the above should allow you to get it going again
