Is it possible to change the password for a selection of sites in bulk? [Active Directory / SSO]

Hello,

I have multiple sites at work that all use a shared password. Whenever my password expires, it is a real hassle to go through and individually update the passwords for all of the individual sites.

With 1password is there a way to update the passwords for sites in bulk? I'm currently using lastpass but it does not offer this capability.

    Hi @lacrosse1991,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us with your question!

To make sure I understand: Do you mean you have a single website account which works on multiple sites (i.e. changing the password from one site will change it on the other sites as well)? Or do you mean you have a different account on each of those sites, but you chose to reuse the same password for each one?

It sounds like you're saying you have a separate account on each site, but that you chose to reuse the same password for each one. In that case, we recommend using a different password for each site, rather than reusing the same password. It's not a good idea to use the same password for multiple website accounts, primarily because if someone figures out your password for one of those sites, they now know your password for all of those sites.

If I misunderstood the situation, please let us know. Thanks! :)

If it really is one account that works on multiple accounts, such as a single-sign-on account but with different URLs for each login page, enabling Multiple URL Support in Preferences and adding the URL of all the possible login pages should let the same entry work across multiple sites, which is I'm guessing where @Drew_AG might be going if they aren't actually separate accounts...

sorry, I should have worded it better. This is for a single sign-sign-on/AD account, so it looks like the multiple URL support option would work well.

    Thanks!

I had a similar question. DSZP, where is that "Multiple URL Support" option in Preferences? The closest thing I see is "lenient URL matching." Is that the same thing? Thanks.

  • Hi @jenniferbga

You can add multiple URLs to an item by adding additional website fields to it in edit mode. There isn't anything in the preferences that needs to be changed to enable this.

    Thanks!
