Merging 1p4_zip into existing 1Password
Hello,
I want to merge a .1p4_zip file from another computer (stored on my desktop) into my existing 1Password on my Mac Book.
The zip file is a backup, as the computer, this file comes from, crashed.
Operating System: OSX Yosemite Version 10.10.5
1Password Version 6.0.1 (Mac App store)
I hope anyone could help me, thanks...
1Password Version: 6.0.1

Hi @AnDrealin,
Thanks for writing in. We can surely help you with that. The process is going to look a little different depending on whether you have any data in 1Password you want to keep.
If you don't want to keep your existing data
In this case it's quite easy:
- Go into Preferences > Backups
- Create a backup, just in case you decide to change your mind
- Use the "Find Backup" button to select the 1p4_zip file, and restore it.
- That's it.
If you want to keep your existing data and merge the backup
If you want to actually merge the two vaults it's going to be a little more involved, but still totally doable.
- Go into Preferences > Sync
- For each of your vaults, you want to make sure that sync is setup to either iCloud or Dropbox/Folder. By having Sync configured, it means that you have a backup of that data somewhere else outside of our database as the sync vaults have all of your data.
- Go into Preferences > Backups
- Create a backup, just in case we want to revert back to the state before we did anything
- Use the "Find Backup" button to select the 1p4_zip file, and restore it.
- Once relaunched, unlock with the old password
- Go into Preferences > Sync
- Configure Sync as it was before. When you connect to the sync vaults it should merge the data.
- You should now have merged vaults
I hope this helps. Let us know how it goes for you.

Hi Rick,
thank you so much. It worked very well for me and now I'm happy to have all my passwords merged together in one vault.
best regards
