Dropbox sync
I was reading the manual about syncing over various devices and I just need some clarification. I'm helping my boss install/use 1password. Ideally, he will be able to share between his desktop mac at home and his windows laptop at work. He just purchased licenses for 1password 6 for mac and 1password 4 for windows. I had assumed that he would be able to sync these over dropbox but then I read this "Dropbox syncing allows 1Password for Mac, 1Password for Windows, 1Password 4 or later for iOS, and 1Password for Android to share and sync your 1Password data directly." Does this mean that it syncing with Dropbox isn't an option if using the newer versions of 1password?
I don't know what OS he has on his Mac - He downloaded a trial version of 1Password and has been using it there but I don't know which version he downloaded.
I use dropbox for my own 1password and its really convenient. If dropbox isnt an option for what I described above what is the best sync mehtod.
1Password Version: 4 for windows 6 for mac

Hi @dholladay,
Thanks for visiting our support forums with your sync question! I apologize for the confusion. Yes, Dropbox sync definitely is supported on 1Password 4 for Windows and 1Password 6 for Mac, and in fact I'd say that's the best way to sync between those platforms currently.
Would you mind explaining what was unclear about the sentence you quoted, and where you read that sentence (a link would be great)? I only ask because this seems like an opportunity for us to improve our documentation to be clearer and more easily understood. Your interpretation is valuable here, as I think I may be too close to the subject matter to see what's confusing about it.
Also please let me know if your boss has any particular problems getting Dropbox sync to work, and we'd be glad to help troubleshoot that with you (or him).

I found it a little confusing because it lists the several syncing methods and what versions they can be used with (at least that was how I read it). On the Dropbox description it doesn't specify version requirement or if later or all versions are compatible with that sync method but then on the Wi-Fi description it does seem like it specifies that only later versions, 1Password 4 or later, can be used.
"Dropbox syncing allows 1Password for Mac, 1Password for Windows, 1Password 4 or later for iOS, and 1Password for Android to share and sync your 1Password data directly.
Mac ←→ Windows
Mac ←→ mobile
Windows ←→ mobile
Mac ←→ Mac
Windows ←→ Windows
mobile ←→ mobileWi-Fi sync allows 1Password 4 or later for Mac or 1Password 4 for Windows to share and sync your 1Password data (the currently open vault) over a temporary Wi-Fi connection to the 1Password 4 or later for iOS or 1Password for Android app on a supported mobile device. 1Password on the Mac and PC will not be syncing directly.
...."
Thanks for your help!

Hi @dholladay,
Thanks so much for the feedback! You're right, there's a lot of information on that page, and I can certainly see how it could be a little less than clear. As Vee mentions above, we're always looking for ways to improve our documentation, and I will share this feedback with our documentation team to see if we can make this section better for everyone.
