1 password on dual systems
Hi there. I have just purchased a new mac. I want to keep my 1 password setup on my existing mac and have the same set-up on my new mac without having another account. How do I make this possible please?

Hey there @pjstmarthe,
I think I can help you with this.
So when you say you want to have it setup on both Macs without having another account, I assume you mean you want to have the data synced between both computers?
If the only devices you have to sync together are two Macs, I'd say that the easiest way to do it is iCloud Sync. You can consult the instructions to do so here : https://support.1password.com/guides/mac/sync-icloud.html

I actually used dropbox to sync between the two and it seems to have done so but only my primary vault is visible. I notice that when I synced all my vaults to dropbox on my older machine, they all seem to have a different keychain id. Could this be why? and if so how to I resolve this?

Hi @pjstmarthe,
Thanks so much of clarifying which sync you use - that helps a lot.
You're right - each vault will have a unique ID, and is synced individually, meaning that you will have to add them to any new computers.
But, since you've already got them synced to Dropbox, adding them to your new Mac is pretty simple. Here's what we'll do:
- Open a Finder window to Dropbox and locate your vault data
- Double click on the vault (will be either a 'vault name.agilekeychain' or 'vault name.opvault')
- 1Password will pop up and prompt you to create a new vault
- You can customize details (including choosing a colour or picture for the vault icon), then enter you Master Password for that vault
- Repeat the process for any other vaults.
I hope this gets you all sorted out! If you have any further questions or concerns, we're here for you. :)
