Once again, different categories in Mac and Windows versions of 1Password

The theme is under discussion since 2014 merely. They've told about an old structure of Windows version (which should be corrected in future versions), but it seems the problem is still actual. My Mac version of 1Password is 6.1, Windows version 4.6. As I've seen in earlier discussions, the picture stands the same: for example, in Windows we have "Generic Account", in Mac it looks as "Login". It's not terrible, but... not grace, is it? By the way, category "Generic Account" seems to be pretty useful and desirable in Mac version too. Maybe there is a trick for creating the similar category by himself? Thank you.

  • Hi @alexchuk,

Thanks for taking the time to write in. Yep, unfortunately this is still true: Mac & iOS have different categories than Windows. We definitely want to get consistent here, and it is likely that in a future version of 1Password for Windows the same categories as are available on our other platforms will be presented.

As for storing "generic" information, we recommend using Secure Notes:

I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

    Hi @alexchuk,

I hope that Secure Notes help you out! With the custom fields (and the ability to add custom icons) they've become one of my favourite categories. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts after you've played around with them for a while.
