Finding duplicates across vaults
Last year, I decided it was finally time to go back to 1password from LastPass, so I did a partial import of logins that I knew I'd use frequently (~150 or so) into my Personal (Dropbox-backed) vault. Now, I've decided to just go all-in on 1password and stop using LastPass altogether. So, to make sure I don't lose anything, I created a new vault called, creatively enough, "LastPass Import" on our new Family account, and imported everything from LastPass into it (650+ logins). So far so good.
Now I'd like to consolidate them, but the problem is that I've been updating the ~150 logins in my personal vault for the last few months, and not bothering to update them in LastPass as well. It'd be easy enough to just copy everything to the same vault, but then I'd have ~150 duplicate entries that may or may not actually match as "duplicates" (AFAICT, "duplicates" just looks for duplicate passwords, which wouldn't be the case if I've changed the password but not updated LastPass). And then it'd be even harder to figure out which ones to keep since I wouldn't know which vault they came from, so I'd have to look at dates, etc, which is a hassle.
So any suggestions on how to best manage this?

Hi @baggend,
Thanks for writing in for help with this. I'm really happy you've decided to switch back to 1Password! :)
You're correct that if you combined all items into the same vault, you'd have ~150 duplicate items in that vault (i.e. the copies that were part of the "everything" import, and the copies that were part of the initial/partial import). Also, you're correct that the "Duplicate Passwords" option in the Security Audit section will just looks for duplicate passwords, so that won't really help as far as your duplicate items are concerned.
There are a couple options that I'm thinking of which might make this a little easier for you:
Option 1: Would it be possible/relatively easy to export only the other ~500 items from LastPass? (In other words, export everything except for the original ~150 logins that you previously already imported into 1Password.) If so, you can delete the ~650 items from the new vault in 1Password, and then import only the ~500 items that weren't previously imported.
Option 2: If Option 1 isn't feasible, you'll basically need to go through the duplicate items in 1Password and delete the ones containing older info. To make that a bit easier, keep them in separate vaults for now, and switch to the All Vaults view in the 1Password app so you can see both vaults at the same time (if necessary, choose which vaults are shown in the All Vaults view from 1Password > Preferences > All Vaults). Sort the list of items by title, and go through the list, looking for the duplicates. When you find two with the same title, check which vault they're each in (you'll see that in the item details) and delete the copy which is in the vault with ~650 items, as that's the older/outdated one.
Does that make sense? Hopefully that makes it a little easier to manage those duplicate items, but if you have more questions or need anything else, don't hesitate to let us know. We're always happy to help! :)
