How can I go back to English language?
Hi there.
I'm a recent addict of 1P, and I'm using it on Windows for the past 3 month. Today is the day of downloading the 1P 6 Mac version on my laptop. But hey, 1P is in french (I suppose because my OSX language is French), and I really don't want it to be in french.
Is there a way to put 1P app in his default language (English), without having to change my OSX language? Guys, I really hope so :(
Bonus question: I noticed a lot of translations mistakes. I don't blame you guys, but may I send you the french correction? So far I found dozen of spelling mistakes (I know, French language is a pain in the ass)
Cheers,

@4wk_: It isn't possible to change languages on demand within the app. All of that is handled by the OS, both on Macs and iOS devices. I'm sorry I don't have better news for you...

But the good news is that you're welcome to help us improve the translation — perhaps so that you won't mind using 1Password in French yourself! You can contribute to the project on Crowdin. Thanks for your passion to make 1Password even better! :chuffed:

Damn, Brenty, that's a bad new :( May you talk to this to your team, about letting the user choose the language? Would be so great!
I'm contributing anyway throught Crowdin, thank you for the link ;) but I would love the fact that we can choose the language. I can argue my point of view if you want me to.
About Crowdin, I'm freshly new to it, but is there a way to find effectively in which Crowdin file is the text I want to correct? Cause AFAIK I only can filter by the name file (that's doesn't help a lot). For instance, I'm currently looking for the "1Password Mini windows" who pops in at the first launch, but I don't find the text on the Crowdin files :-1:

(I'm looking for the "Preferences 1Paswwords Team" too, no idea where the OSX.string file is)

Greetings @4wk_,
I think the file you're asking about is the
OSX_OPPreferencesB5ViewController.strings
file, is that what you're looking for?0 -
Unfortunetly, no :(
I'm looking for the text above:And also this one:
On the second one, I want to fix an ugly mistake on the "Back" button! Thanks,

Greetings @4wk_,
Thank you, I believe that helped me locate the correct files. I haven't seen that first screen for a while given how long we've been running our own AgileBits team
The file that relates to the first window seems to be
Localizable.strings
and the file for the second window isOSX_OPEssentialSettingsWindow.strings

Thanks a lot @littlebobbytables, I did my contribution :+1:
Is it possible to keep this thread open to (possibly) ask you other file localizations? Or can you give me a tool / a tip to find them myself?

Hi @4wk_,
We don't close threads without very good reason so don't worry, this won't be closed any time soon
As to any tricks I might have for searching. I'm not a Crowdin expert so I could easily be missing something obvious but I struggled to easily locate something using their interface. Instead I downloaded a ZIP file of all the translations and then used
grep
in a terminal window. Basically the command line commandgrep
with the proper arguments allows me to say search for this piece of text are go look in all the folders and subfolders and let me know what you find. You can also open an entire folder inside of TextWrangler and it has a Multi-File Search option. That might be a bit more friendly to use than a terminal window and a command that I always forget how to use each time so I have to refresh my memory first.
If it's easier to ask that's fine though, what helped me locate the files you wanted though was seeing the translation you wanted to improve, that way I looked for the current translation and that showed me just the file with the French translation
