Feature request: login/password files in credit card records
I currently have to create a separate "login" record for each credit card, separate from the one in the credit card category, It would be great to just have one, in category "Credit Cards", that I could use both to copy/paste credit card info and to log into the website for the credit card provider. This request is filed under IOS, but it really applies to all platforms. I use IOS and MacOS. Thanks for listening.

Thank you very much for writing in and letting us know what you'd like to see in 1Password. I think you're right and it would be easier if the same item could work as both things at once! I hope that we'll be able to see this kind of thing in 1Password some day :chuffed:

Totally agree with this one. I'm just now transfering from eWallet over to 1Password and this is a great feature they had. They also allow you to customize by adding additional fields on any cards, like free text, hidden fields for additional passwords, notes, etc.

Hi @gvanburen,
Thanks for taking the time to let us know!
Just to explain a bit about why it currently works the way it does: There are three types of items in 1Password that can be used to fill different kinds of forms on websites: Logins (for filling sign-in forms), Credit Cards (for filling credit card forms) and Identities (for filling names, addresses, job titles, email addresses, etc). A Login item is tied to a specific website, so you need a different Login item for each site where you have an account. On the other hand, a single Credit Card item can be used on pretty much any site where you can make a purchase.
Because a website account and a credit card are two different things that are used for different purposes, and their web forms also work differently, you'll need a couple different items in 1Password (a Login and a Credit Card), even though they might be related to each other. But if you want to group those items together in 1Password, you can use Folders or Tags.
Alternately, if you'd like to store website account info in a Credit Card item (or credit card details in a Login item), you can add custom fields for that. However, custom fields aren't used for filling forms on websites, so you would still need to have separate Login and Credit Card items to fill out both kinds of web forms.
Now, that doesn't mean it's impossible to come up with a way to have a single item that can fill two different kinds of web forms, and we might be able to do that one day. It's just not something that can be done overnight - it would take a lot of time and resources to add something like that, so it's probably not something we'll be able to do in the near future. But I'd be happy to let our developers know you're interested in that!
Please don't hesitate to let us know if you need anything else. Have a great weekend! :)
