  • Hi @Senegalus,

Do you mean create a new local vault with 1Password 6 for Windows? If yes, that's not currently implemented and 1Password 6 currently has limited read-only support for local vaults, you won't be able to make changes to your local vaults.

If you need local vaults, we recommend using 1Password 4 instead, which you can find here.

1Password 6 for Windows is mainly for 1Password.com subscription for now, we will update it over time to support local vaults and that's when we'll offer it as an upgrade for 1Password 4 customers and standalone users.

    Hi Mike,

I don't want to use local vaults, I only use the personal vault of password 6.
My Question: is there are a local copy of the personal vault on my local drive c:?
I find the following file: C:\Users\Andreas\AppData\Local\1Password\data\1password10.sqlite.

Alternative: Is it possible to create a local backup file of my personal vault from my account?

    Hello @Senegalus,

As Roustem mentioned here, you can copy the contents of your Personal vault into a local vault and keep it as a local "backup". That would provide the way to access your data without 1Password.com. However, it will not be synced with your Personal vault automatically. There is no simple way to perform local backup for 1Password accounts, see Roustem's explanation why in the same thread.

I hope it helps. If there is anything else we can assist you with, please let us know. :)

    Thanks!

@Greg: the workaround provided by Roustem is for Macs. Are you sure that does also work on 1Password 6 for Windows which has only read-only support for local vaults?

@XIII: You are right, it is easier to do in 1Password for Mac at the moment, but it doesn't mean that it is impossible on Windows. You can export your data from 1Password 6 and import it to a local vault in 1Password 4. Don't forget to delete your export file afterwards, because it is not encrypted. It is not an ideal solution, I know, and we are working on bringing full support for local vaults to 1Password 6. Is there a particular reason you would like to keep a local backup?

In my previous message I meant the overall idea of local backup workaround, sorry for the miscommunication. :)

I use 1Password Families personally and it is more convenient than ever. The data in my 1Password account is safely backed up and I can still access it offline, because it is cached on my devices. Moreover, we are open about our security design and just recently launched bug bounty program, where we offer money to anyone, who can break our security. It doesn't mean they will be successful, but they can still try. :)

Thanks for the lots of information. I think, during the next updates of 1password I will use the backup function of the IOS-version to itunes.

    Thanks,
