About special pricing for beta testers

Hello!

First of all apologies if this has been answered somewhere else already. I am arguably bad at searching in these forums :(.

My question has to do with the discount incentive to be a beta tester... I am interested in a standalone license for 1password7, but not only for Windows, but for all platforms! I was wondering if the discount offered to beta testers (which I think is really a great incentive to participate in the beta) will mean that we could get a multi-paltform license at a reduce price or if we would have to buy independently 1password7 for iOS, MacOS and Win10.

Thanks so much in advance!

  • Hi @Qutrit,

    Thanks for writing in.

You'd have to buy a separate license for each platform, there will not be a bundled license for both Windows and macOS. Note that we can't offer a bundle for mobile platforms as they each have a specific app store that is controlled by the platform's owners.

Only 1Password.com subscription can give you access to all 1Password apps and future versions included.

What, also, about the family/multiple user licensing? I understand the mobile (iOS/Android) issue, but there used to be a multiple PC license, no? Thanks for getting us standalone users updated finally!

I am participating in the beta, because on the one hand I love to have some positive influence on the tools I enjoy using and on the other hand it is clearly attractive to save some money somewhen later this year.
So far I own a family license for the Windows version 4.6.x.
    1) Is this something we will be able to buy again with version 7?
    2) Will I be able to use the beta discount for such a version as well?

@leesweet and @mort -- there are no plans to make a family license of 1Password 7 for Windows available. Our product for families is now 1Password Families, which we'd encourage those of you with multiple family members to check out. Not only does it allow for things that simply can't be done in standalone 1Password, it's also, at $4.99/mo for five family members, the best deal we have going right now.

Thanks for the update. Not sure what purchasing Families has to do with the price of the Windows client, which we would need multiple copies of anyway, no?

@leesweet - Sorry for not making it more clear. All 1Password memberships, whether individual, 1Password Families or 1Password Teams, come with unlimited access to all four of our native 1Password apps (Windows, Mac, iOS and Android), including all future upgrades, for as long as the membership is maintained. So my point was that no, if you subscribe to 1Password Families, you would not need multiple user licensing. A 1Password Families account gives up to five people any of our 1Password apps they might need.

If you have a family of five that all want to use 1Password in standalone mode, each person would need a license for every platform they use. So, if each of the five of you wanted to use 1Password on both Mac and Windows, that would be ten separate standalone license purchases; one for Windows and one for Mac, for each person. Hope that helps clarify things, but feel free to ask any follow-ups you might have. :)

Ah, gotcha, having never used the online version, who's to know? :) Thanks for the update!

@leesweet - No worries! To be clear, by "access," I mean: anyone with a 1password.com account can download and use as many copies of 1Password on as many devices as they have, without additional charge. Just sign in with your account and 1Password will be ready to go with no licensing or other restrictions. This guide on 1Password memberships may be able to help clear up any other questions you have about the advantages of a 1Password membership.
