In my vault, I have a generic account entry (see screenshot for example) that was created in v4. When I open the vault in v7, I can't find it anywhere, not in any of the categories, nor by searching when "all items" is selected. When I reopen the vault in v4, it's still there, but v7 doesn't seem to see it.

Looks like this has to do with the fact that my vault is still in the AgileKeychain format. I created a test vault in AgileKeychain format in v4 with a "generic account" entry, and once I converted it to OPVault, it showed up as a standard login item in both v4 and v7.

@speedy1812: Sorry fro the confusion there! As mentioned in the known issues, 1Password 7 cannot read legacy data from version 1. And since "Generic Account" was deprecated long ago (hence the conversion to "Login"), it's possible that's where you created that item in the first place. Creating a new one in version 4 should work, and it sounds like that's what you did. Is that the only one you had trouble with?

@brenty I saw the point about v7 not being able to ready legacy data from v1 if it hadn't been modified in v4, but since v4 was the first version of 1Password that I ever used, and everything I have was created in v4, I didn't realize that applied to me.

So far, the "generic account" was the only thing I have noticed that was missing. I still need to convert to OPVault and make sure everything copied over, though.

    Hi @speed1812,

We do apologize for the confusion.

I've updated the Known Issues to mentioned that legacy 1Password templates such as Generic Accounts, S3, FTP, etc are not yet converted but it is coming in a future update.

Is there a way to see which ones won't convert? Like a 'created in version x' flag? I saw this also, and also didn't think I had any made before Version 4 (but now I'm also wondering!). How do we know except by perhaps counting total items in the two vaults? Of course, even then, you won't know what they are...

    Hi @leesweet,

We have plans to add a progress view that shows you exactly what didn't import or did import.

However, your 1Password legacy items should technically still be in your OPVault file, it just won't show most of it. Most of the generic items like FTP are converted to Logins in 1Password 7. Here's an example:

Excellent, the line about 'won't convert' was a little confusing. Is there some place you'd like to have results of the beta installations gathered together? I don't think you want a thread for each one... :)

For instance, I'm another case of 'didn't get any results popup to tell me what to do next', as was mentioned in your blog post thread.

  • Yea, words are really hard to get right. This is definitely confusing, which is why we're working to fix this as we speak.

We usually prefer one issue per thread because it allows various folks to talk about the same issue and keep everyone on the same page when we have more information to share. If you'd like to keep it in one thread, we can do that as well.

For instance, I'm another case of 'didn't get any results popup to tell me what to do next', as was mentioned in your blog post thread.

Can you clarify what you mean by that? I'm not familiar with this one nor see it in the blog post.

Yep, there were a lot of comments: This one here, towards the bottom. My copy just ran and that was it.

    Hi Michael,

Thank you for the kind words. We’re pretty smitten with 1Password 7 as well. 🙂

It sounds like you’ve managed to import your data into 1Password 7, which is great. What caught you off guard is you existing 1Password.agilekeychain folder will be IGNORED by 1Password 7 after the import finishes. A new folder should have been created with the newer OPVault format and stored alongside your old one. It’s this new folder that you will need to sync your phone with.

We have a window that appears (or at least is supposed to appear) during the import process that explains this. I wonder, did you the window appear or do we need to polish things to make it more clear? We’re just starting the beta process so any feedback you have would be great.

  • Hi @leesweet,

It appears when you open the AgileKeychain vault, here's a screenshot:

That may have appeared... In any case, it would have been nice to have a link to an article on how to do that (repoint your other apps), so we could open that up in another tab, perhaps?

I'm still trying to figure out the story on the Mac 6.8.8 version.

I agree. We've still got a lot of work to do on the app itself before we try to finalize documentation (and perhaps make the import process better to where this becomes irrelevant), but ti's definitely something on our minds as well. Thank you for the feedback! :chuffed:
