Which update channel for beta testing?

Maybe this is a silly question, but if I am beta testing the v7 app, I should probably have the update channel set to "beta", right?

Be default, the update channel was set to "stable". That's good for most users, but since I presume most beta testers are going to want to be on the beta channel, it might be a good idea to put something to that effect in the announcement, so that the beta testers are getting all the beta goodness. ;)

@speedy1812: I'm a little bit confused about what you're asking, so I'll try to clarify how it works to see if that helps.

If you do not enable the "beta" option for updates in 1Password, you'll only be offered the stable releases. However, even if you have your updates set to "stable", you can use the beta by installing it manually — which you probably did in this case. Does that make sense? :)

  • @speedy1812 sorry for the confusion, 1Password 7 is available in beta only and it is a significant change from 1Password 6. We override whatever setting is on the screen to be beta channel for now. We will remove that override as we get closer to releasing stable. Hope that helps :)
