Comparing pricing models

I'm comparing password managers for Mac and would like some clarification about your pricing model. Do I need to buy a license for the 1Password software as well as the $17.99 app if I want to sync to my mobile devices, or does the app come free with a license purchase? Thanks.

    Hi @estyle,

    1Password is licensed per-person and per-platform.

When you purchase from our online store,  a single-user license allows one person to use 1Password on any number of devices of the purchased platform (e.g., a 1Password for Mac single-user license is valid for all of your Macs). Once you add another person, it is time for another single-user license, or a family license if you're in the same household.

1Password for Mac is also available in the Mac App Store: http://j.mp/1PmasST

Mac App Store licensing is similar to ours, except that your purchase is tied to your Apple ID. You can then use your Apple ID to install purchased apps on any computer "you own or control" (we take that to mean just about any Mac in your house). You can read more on Apple's web site: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4461

A Mac + Windows bundle is available exclusively in our online store. If you'd like this option, but would like to take advantage of the Mac App Store, please send us a copy of your receipt from the Mac App Store for your purchase of 1Password for Mac and we'll give you a bundle discount you can use to purchase 1Password for Windows from our online store.

1Password for iOS (iPhone & iPad) is sold exclusively by Apple in the App Store: http://j.mp/1PasCS

Please let us know if you have any other questions. We're always happy to help! :)

Thanks for responding, @JasperP. So in order to be able to "sync everywhere", the customer needs to buy a license for the software AND the mobile app (for the unreasonable price of $17.99). I think that should be made clearer in your literature.

Yes, like I mentioned above, 1Password is sold per-platform.

We do try to make this clear on our store (https://agilebits.com/store), but I will pass along your feedback to our developers. Thanks!
