Doesn't automatically log me in anymore

I don't know what's wrong with my 1Password Chrome Extension and 1Password Mini, I used to click or press "Enter" on a login and it would fill and log me in automatically. Now it fills the blank parts but it doesn't log me in anymore, I have to either press "Enter" a second time or click. This problem started 2 days ago, does anyone knows how to fix it?

    Hi @InfamousBastard‌,

We recently made some great changes to the 1Password browser extension, including some precision refinements to the 'submit' function. You can read all about the improvements on our blog, but the important thing to note is this:

[IMPROVED] Autosubmit no longer clicks a submit element unless it is 100% certain it will have no side effects. Mac App Store users will need to install this Autosubmit Script.

I apologize for the trouble, please let me know how this works for you!

Hey Megan thank you so much for the quick reply! Everything is back to normal now thank you. Will I have to install that script everytime 1Password updates now? Should I keep this one or is there a place I can download it when needed?

I have Version 4.4 (440001). I have updated the browser extensions. I have reviewed know issues etc, but still have lost the ability to auto fill on some websites, most do work OK. Running latest OS Mavericks.

The website that is noticeably not working is https://investor.vanguard.com/home/?WT.srch=1.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi @InfamousBastard‌

I'm so glad to hear that the script has things working properly for you! You should not have to install this script each time there is an update. It should stay put and keep working its magic for you.

    Hi Bill,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having some trouble since the extension upgrade. There are a lot of big changes under the hood, so some Logins may require a bit of an update themselves. What happens if you save a new Login like so?

    • Edit the login that you currently have for this website by appending an "Old" to the title - just so you can tell them apart.
    • Visit the site and fill in the fields you want filled. Do NOT click the login button.
    • Click the 1Password extension, and unlock it if necessary.
    • Click the gear icon (or vault icon if multiple vaults are enabled) in the upper right corner.
    • Select Save new login.
    • Give the entry a unique and identifiable title.
    • Click Save.
    • Revisit the site and see if 1Password fills in the site correctly.

I've tried this with the first page of Vangaurd's site and it seems to behave properly. Unfortunately I can't test the second page without a proper account. I hope it works for you though!

I also downloaded 1Password 4 from the Mac App Store recently ( I am a new user) and have had it suddenly stop auto-submitting logins within the last couple of days. It has previously worked fine for all websites that I use.

I installed the auto-submit script that Megan posted above, and that seems to have resolved the issue for most websites. However, I am still having (known) trouble with 2 banking websites. The auto-submit feature does NOT work on the first submit (i.e. the username) but it DOES seem to work on the second page submit (i.e. the password).

    The two website urls are:
    https://www.barclaycardus.com
    https://www.1stnationalbank.com/site/personal/

As far as I know, these are the only websites that still aren't working after installing the auto-submit script.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer me!

    Hi All -

I have also posted my question to another thread here: http://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/comment/127891/#Comment_127891

Through the other posts in the discussion forum, I have now discovered that my auto-submit login problems from the last couple of days are due to the new upgrade in the extension. Yay for an upgrade and for finding the (almost) solution to my problem!!

As I said in my comment on the other thread, installing the auto-submit script for the Mac App Store version of 1Password seems to have resolved the issue for most websites.

However, I am still having (known) trouble with 2 banking websites. The auto-submit feature does NOT work on the first page submit (i.e. the username) but it DOES seem to work on the second page submit (i.e. the password).

Please note that 1Password is filling in the correct data (i.e. username) in the appropriate field, it just does not auto-submit the login once filled. Previously, it worked on both of the websites I mention below.

    The two website urls are:
    https://www.barclaycardus.com
    https://www.1stnationalbank.com/site/personal/

I have tried the above suggestion of manually creating a new login, but this didn't seem to resolve my issue.

As far as I know, these are the only websites that still aren't working after installing the auto-submit script.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me and for a great product!

I am running OSX Mavericks 10.9.3, Safari 7.0.4, 1Password Mac App Store version 4.4, and 1Password mini Safari Extension v. 4.2.0

    Megan:

Thanks for the instructions. They did not work for me. I did find that Vanguard's home page login area fails (with the address I gave earlier), but there are other points on Vanguard such as https://investor.vanguard.com/my-portfolio/ where 1PW works nicely. I have tried using Safari and Firefox with same result. BTW I forgot to mention this was not an issue a week or more ago.

    Hi @emily7246,

I've merged your similar post from its original topic into this one, where I can reply once here to both you and Bill. :)

We've released a 4.2.1 update of the 1Password extension. Can you please install that update and let me know if it resolves autosubmit issues you're having? Using the update and 1Password 4.4 (440001) from the Mac App Store (plus the AutoSubmit script), I've successfully tested autofill and autosubmit on these first pages with Safari, Chrome, and Firefox:

    https://barclaycardus.com

    https://1stnationalbank.com/site/personal/

    https://investor.vanguard.com/home/?WT.srch=1

My test Login items were saved manually, using steps that @Megan mentioned in post #5. And I'm unable to test on subsequent pages without accounts there, too, like she also mentioned.

I hope the 4.2.1 extension update does the trick for both of you. :)

I have updated the 1PW password extension and the auto submit script is installed and Version 4.4 (440001). At the vanguard site you tested I still am unable to auto fill user name in Safari with either the browser's feature or 1PW mini. If I manually fill user name and progress to next window for password, autofill works as expected.

    Hi Bill,

If you edit your Vanguard Login item, with Web form details displayed, does it look similar to this?

If the submit setting is Always submit then autosubmit should occur after filling even if you've toggled the autosubmit preference off.

We've still got other ideas if that doesn't help. :)

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for posting the image of that item's details. It does look similar to mine, but also has main and web form password fields.

Please feel free to skip to the end of this post for an easy possible solution for this. :)

The exact steps I used to create my item:

    • Enter MyUsername in the User name field on the https://investor.vanguard.com/home/?WT.srch=1 page:

    • Select Save new Login under 1Password mini preferences, and having Submit Logins enabled there:

    • Title and save the new item from the 1Password Save Login window:

I can successfully autofill and autosubmit when using open and fill with that item from the main app or mini. And when first opening the https://investor.vanguard.com/home/?WT.srch=1 page, then using the Command-\ (Fill Login on current web page) shortcut. Etc. :)

    However …

It looks like the password field in your item is interfering with both filling and submitting. Here's something you could try:

    • Select and duplicate that item (using Item > Duplicate (Command-D) in the main app.
    • Give it a recognizable title.
    • Remove the username field from web form details:

    • Save the changes.

Now test using that new item and it should work as intended with the https://investor.vanguard.com/home/?WT.srch=1 page. And your original item with the password should still work fine with the second page.

But that requires using two items, so …

A simpler alternative would be to use your existing Login item for filling the User name field on the https://personal.vanguard.com/us/MyHome page.
You can add that URL to your Login item as a new website field for testing and if you're satisfied how that works then change the main website field.

Hopefully that'll help get this problem licked for you. :)

    Hi Bill,

It looks a Login item with username and password fields will autofill the User name field properly on the https://personal.vanguard.com/us/MyHome page, but unfortunately doesn't autosubmit there. And a Login item with only a username field will autofill the User name field on the https://investor.vanguard.com/home page and also autosubmit. I've included this information in our bug tracker.

Thanks for your help and patience with getting a single Login item that can autofill and autosubmit on each Vanguard page you use it with.

    SJK -

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I am still not able to auto submit on either of the first pages of the two websites I listed. I deleted the old logins and manually created new ones after installing extension 4.2.1 as you suggested.

The auto submit feature DOES work if the login entry in 1password does not include the password. However, as soon as I add the password to the login entry, it goes back to not auto submitting on the first page (i.e. username) but working on the second page (i.e. password).

I can fix this using two entries, one for the password and one for the username, however this makes autofill complicated because then 1password can't recognize which entry to fill on which page and so it asks which one I want to use. This rather defeats the purpose of the autofill...

Again, thank you for all of the help. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

    Hi Emily ( @emily7246 ),

Are you able to successfully autofill, but not autosubmit, on these pages using items with username and password fields?

    https://barclaycardus.com

    https://1stnationalbank.com/site/personal/

And can the same items successfully autofill and autosubmit on following pages?

In other words, can you use a single item with each site and only have to manually submit on the first page (until autosubmit works there again) instead of using multiple items?

That sounds correct. I am able to use one item and manually submit on the first page, and autosumbit on the second page. When do you think the support for these websites (and others like them) will be updated to work again?

    Best,
    Emily

    Hi @emily7246‌

Unfortunately, 1Password is not currently able to auto-submit on pages with no password entry. So you will need to click that 'log in' button on the first page for these entries. I do apologize for the inconvenience here ... but I'm glad to hear that your Logins are working great, despite this little blip. :)
