Do I need separate licenses for both iMac and Macbook?

I have downloaded 1password for mac from app store for my iMac. When trying to download 1password from app store on macbook, it looks as though I need to pay for a separate license. Is this true? I downloaded from app store to enable iCloud sync. So it looks like I need to pay 49.00 again to be able to use on macbook. Very confused. Any help would be appreciated.

    So long as you use the same Apple ID on both computers you should not need to purchase again. What you may find is that the app store initially refers to a purchase but then part way through the transaction changes, tells you that you already bought the app and can download it again. I, too, find that confusing!

    Thank you, went back to macbook and it now is downloading.
