Surely this is not a feature but a security hole. Running 4.4.1 on 10.8.5

It's a feature and one you can turn off if you wish. While you may be closing the application 1Password, 1Password mini is always running in the background (which you can turn off too if you want) so there is a service keeping an eye on things and it isn't just that your vault is left unlocked. The defaults would have it close if your machine goes to sleep, is idle for a few minutes etc.

So what you'll want to be doing is checking out the security preferences which can be found in 1Password : Preferences... : Security tab. You can play with all the lock settings and tune it to your taste. The one you're probably most interested in by the sounds of it though is the Lock when main window is closed

If you dislike the idea of 1Password mini (be warned, you need it for the browser extensions) then that can be turned off in the General tab of that same preference window.

    Hi @catskills509,

1Password 4 is either fully locked or unlocked, adjustable with the Auto-lock options under the Security tab of Preferences that @littlebobbytables mentioned. There are no separate locking options for the main application, 1Password mini, and browser extensions.

You can also use the global Lock 1Password keyboard shortcut, to lock 1Password from anywhere. The default, Control-Option-Command-L (⌃⌥⌘L), can be changed under the General tab of Preferences.

Locking is handled by 1Password mini, which powers the interface for both the 1Password browser extensions and main application.

    I hope that and @littlebobbytables' comments helps clarify 1Password 4 (un)locking behavior. :)
