"1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini"

I have updated Mac OS to 10.9.5 and suddenly 1Pasword has stopped working with the above message. I have enabled 1Password in Safari but it did not change anything to my ability to launch 1Password.

    As you've discovered, updating to 10.9.5 meant updating Safari and that update disabled all extensions - no, I don't know why either. You could try quitting both 1Password and 1Password Mini or a full reboot of your mac if you haven't already. To quit 1Password completely launch 1Password, then instead of using ⌘Q to quit use ⌃⌘Q. If you were to open up the 1Password menu and hold down the ctrl key you can see as Quit 1Password ⌘Q turns into Quit 1Password and 1Password Mini ⌃⌘Q. Relaunching it will hopefully kick start things again.
