upgrade from v3 to 5 from mac store or site w discount?

a friend has a v3 they got from a NON mac store bundle and want to upgrade to v5 - Is it best - for latest features to now buy from apple mac store rather than for the site? What about upgrade discount from v3 to v5?

    To upgrade from 1Password 3 to 1Password 5 web store, your friend must enter the license code for 1Password 3 here and complete the purchase of the upgrade.

    To obtain the Mac App Store version of 1Password, your friend needs to purchase it like a new user.

    NOTE: If your friend wants to use iCloud sync, we strongly recommend that he/she purchases 1Password 5 from the Mac App Store. For more details, please visit this topic of this forum.

    Hi @dealtek‌

    The only technical reason to purchase from the Mac App Store versus our store is for iCloud sync. If your friend wants to sync with iCloud, he needs to purchase from the Mac App Store. The App Store does not offer upgrade pricing but if your friend would like further assistance please have him shoot us an email to support@agilebits.com and we'll see what we can do.
