Retrieving Deleted Information

For some unknown reason, the 1Password App disappeared from my IPhone. (If there is no explanation, then I must have deleted it by accident.) Wouldn't this information by on my IMac as well? I re-loaded the app on my phone but after "synching" it with my IMac, the contents are still empty. I checked the phone and it seems the "Sync" button was off, so maybe the information was never shared with the computer? Do you know of any other way to retrieve it? 2ND QUESTION... the appearance of this app is very different on the IPad. Is that normal? Should the IPhone and IPad be able to sync also? THANK YOU.

Welcome to the forums, Sugar Snap Pea. I'm sorry that you are having this trouble.

The bad news is that something has happened to your 1Password installation. The good news is that neither 1Password nor any other app on your device can remove itself, so this should not be a regular occurrence if you don't want it to be. :-)

Deleting 1Password will also delete all of your 1Password data from your iPhone, but there are several ways you might be able to recover that data, after you reinstall the 1Password app:

    * If you've been using Dropbox to sync your data with 1Password for Mac or Windows and you are able to see all of your 1Password data on your computer, just set up Dropbox syncing again in the reinstalled app, and your data will start syncing to your iPad automatically. Please see this guide for instructions:

    http://help.agilebits.com/1Password3/cloud_syncing_with_dropbox.html

    * If you've previously sync'ed your 1Password data with 1Password for Mac using Wi-Fi syncing, you can easily restore your data during the next Wi-Fi sync:

    http://help.agilebits.com/1Password_touch/sync_to_mac_manually.html

    * If you've used the built-in "backup and restore" feature to save a backup copy of your 1Password data, you can use it again to restore that saved backup file. You can read more about our backup and restore option here:

    http://help.agilebits.com/1Password_touch/backup.html

Please note that you don't have to repurchase 1Password in order to reinstall the app, providing you're still using the same iTunes account that you used to purchase the app originally, then you will be able to download the current version for free. Unfortunately, it won't look like it's free until you choose to "buy" it and enter your password. You don't have to take our word for it, though. Here is Apple's official support document:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519

Dropbox syncing works across all supported platforms, so you can keep a virtually unlimited number of iPhones, iPads, Macs, PCs, and more always in sync and always ready to restore your data in the event of device failure or loss.

The 1Password Pro is designed to take advantage of all the capabilities of whichever iOS device it is run on. When you run it on an iPhone, it is optimized for the smaller screen. On an iPad, 1Password Pro has a more generous layout. You can check out the documentation for iPhone and iPad to ensure that what you are seeing is normal, but it sounds like it is.

I hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.

    Thanks!
  • Magnificent! Thank you very much for your prompt and thorough response. I don't think I had any of the synching or back up options set up. I will do that now and begin re-entering the information. With appreciation for your help!
