Secure Notes

Greetings,

I have the 1Password program on an iPhone and my windows pc. I use drop box to sync the devices. The Secure Notes that I have created on my laptop do not fully transfer to the iPhone. The note section is missing. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Hello Anna and welcome to the Forums!

Sorry you are having a problem with your Secure Notes synching to your iPhone.

Please take a look at the following thread, and try the steps suggested by Khad: Secure Notes / Dropbox Sync

Let me know how it works for you.

    Cheers!

  • Greetings,

Thanks for your response. I read the post that you sent me and followed the instructions. I modified the secure note on my PC that I had originally created on my iPhone. The change was visible on the iPhone. The secure notes created on my PC though still do not show the notes section on my iPhone.

    Thanks

    Anna,

Thanks for trying Khad's suggestions and reporting your findings. I searched the Forums looking for a definitive resolution to the Secure Notes issue, but I have not seen a specific fix.

The only other troubleshooting tips that have shown promise are the following:

    1. Go to 1Password>Preferences>Advanced and click Clear Cache and Rebuild Data File.
    2. Reset Dropbox synching.

When these options haven't produced results, the AB staff have requested that the user submit a Diagnostics Report for further analysis.

I'm sorry that I cannot offer a concrete solution to your issue, but I am sure the problem will be resolved eventually.

    Please post your results.

If you edit the Secure Note on the iOS device, are you able to see the entire contents? There is a known issue with notes in excess of 2009 pixels on iOS devices.

Please let me know if it is a length issue or if the note is simply not showing up at all.

    Thanks!
  • Greetings,

I do not have an advanced option under preferences so I was not able to clear cache and rebuild the data file. Also the secure notes that I have created are less than 100 characters. The 1Password version I have is 1.05.190. Is there another place that I can follow the instructions you have provided.

    Thanks

    Anna,

Thanks for the additional information. The instructions Brandt mentioned are only applicable to 1Password for Mac. Sorry for the confusion.

Also the secure notes that I have created are less than 100 characters.

This is important as it lets me know that there is not a length issue at all. I'm glad we can rule that out.

It sounds like syncing is working, but that there is an issue which is preventing you from seeing the Secure Notes created in Windows in your iPhone.

Does the issue apply to all Secure Notes created in Windows or just one? If you create a new one, does that sync? Just to verify: if you create a Secure Note on your iPhone, does it show up in Windows?

    Please let me know. Thanks!

    Anna,

Khad is correct, and I am sorry for the slip.

As you are using 1P4Windows, I intended to suggest: "File --> Repair Keychain" (not sure if that option is only available in the 1P4Windows' BETA version)

Sorry for not keeping my mind focused on the relevant "platform".

Regardless, you are in good hands with Khad. I hope the mystery is solved soon.

Thanks Tommy. I needed that. Was feeling rather moronic earlier.

    I owe you one. smile.gif

  • Greetings,

The note sections of any secure notes that are created on my laptop are not visible on my i phone. If I modify the secure note on the i phone that was originally created on the laptop it does not save any changes. If I create one on my i phone then both the secure note that is on the i phone and the same synced secure note on my laptop show the note section. Also the instruction concerning going to file and then to repair Keychain did not work. There is not an option to repair Keychain in the file menu. There is a "repair 1Password Data" which I chose but that also did not have any affect. Any other suggestions??

    Thanks

I wasn't sure if the File --> Repair Keychain option was available only in the 1P for Windows BETA release, but your experience appears to confirm that.

Since the majority of my experience is with the Mac version, I'll bow out here. However, since I'm preparing to set up my siblings with the Windows' version and Dropbox synching to their iPhones, I'll be watching for a solution to your issue with great interest.

Anna, I really wish this was already resolved, but we may need some additional information.

To help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? If you have an email client installed, you can send the report more easily by selecting Help > Diagnostics Report > E-mail to Agile. If you don't have a desktop email client, you can select Help > Diagnostics Report > Export to File. Then attach the entire file to an email to [email protected]

Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, though.

    Thanks!
  • Greetings All,

Thanks you very much for your assistance in resolving the issue. This was the fix that I was sent from Mike Tselikman.

Please back up your 1Password data on your iPhone via this guide:
    http://help.agilebits.com/1Password_touch/backup.html

When finishing with the backup file, while still in 1Password on your iPhone, go to [More] > Settings > Sync > Dropbox > Account, tap on "Reset" and now then turn Dropbox Sync off. After that, go to Settings > Database and tap on "Reset Database". Now, go back to Settings > Sync > Dropbox and set up the Dropbox Sync again from the beginning. If you need instructions on how to do this, please read this guide starting with Step 5:
