Is a 1Password Account database located on one of my devices or is it on AgileBits server? Is it encrypted?

    Hi @burrsm,

When you sign in to your 1Password account on your device, a copy of your 1Password Families database will be stored (encrypted) on your device. A copy of your database is also stored on the AgileBits servers, and yes, it is encrypted as well.

1Password offers what’s called ‘end to end encryption’. This means that your data gets encrypted on your computer before it gets sent anywhere. And the keys to unlock that data also stay on your computer as well. So all that is stored on the server is an encrypted blob, and we do not have the keys to unlock that blob.

If you’d like to read more about 1Password’s encryption, you can take a peek at our security page, which has a link to our in-depth White Paper with all the geeky secure details you’ll ever want to know. :)
