Feature request: character count for word-based Password Generator

Some of us use Password Generator to create word combinations for passwords that we may need to enter manually from time to time. For example: "rivulet-foremost-hopper" instead of "we3Bb+T]we3/[". Because 1Password doesn't show character count when it generates word-based passwords, it is very difficult to hit the desired character length when creating a word-based password.

Feature request: allow users to select a desired character count and generate a word-based password with that exact character count. If that can't be implemented, continue to let users chose the number of words and simply display the resulting character count, so we work around.

Thanks!

    Hi @davnyc

Thank you for letting us know what you'd like to see in 1Password, this is a pretty interesting idea. The first option would probably not be the best from a security point of view. Setting up a specific number of characters that the words have to add up would take way too much from the randomness that is the key for security in these kind of passwords. However, being able to see the number of characters a password has is something that we might implement some day.

Ideally, sites should avoid having restrictions on how long passwords can or should be, but while we get there having a character count might be helpful :chuffed: For now, if you have a feeling a password might be a bit too long for a site you can store it and then use Large Type view to see exactly how many characters!
