I also tried to "create an account", but that didn't seem to have a way to sync up to dropbox, and wanted all new master passwords and everything.

When using an account, Dropbox is not needed as 1password.com handles sync automatically. Also,, of course, though new master passwords are required there is no harm (and a lot of good) in making them the same as the old one.

You wouldn't be able to add logins from Windows, as the licence (which seems to be what you have) is for Mac only, and you need a Windows licence.

At present (this is just a matter of AgileBits getting up to speed) there are two different versions of 1PW for Windows, and it helps to know what version of Windows you are running.

In your situation I reckon going with the subscription is the best idea, though you could stick with a licence and upgrade to Mac + Windows licence if that's what you want. See https://support.1password.com/why-account/ for an account of the advantages of a subscription.

Moving over from licence to subscription can be tricky, but we will be able to help you.

Hi @Randell - Danco is spot on here. It looks like you signed up for an Individual account (which is separate from our standalone licenses).

In order to get everything in sync with your 1Password membership, you have first add the Individual account to your existing 1Password app on your Mac -
    https://support.1password.com/add-device/#add-your-account-to-the-1password-app

Once you're signed in, you can then migrate over your existing 1Password data -

    https://support.1password.com/move-share-items/#to-move-items-in-the-apps

Basically your Primary vault will be replaced by your new Personal vault since we take care of all the syncing on our end. Once you have migrated everything over on your Mac, you can then just install 1Password 6 on your PC then just sign in using your login credentials -

    https://support.1password.com/1password-setup/?win#set-up-the-apps/?windows

I hope this helped and let us know if you have any additional questions. We'll be happy to assist :-)

That does help. One question, am I able to continue using dropbox with this setup if I want?

@Randell - 1Password 6 for Windows only supports local vaults (including those synced with Dropbox) in read-only mode, so you can't add or modify entries. As sync is included with the membership, that's not an issue for most people. Any special reason why you'd want to continue using Dropbox?

Well, I figure it is slightly more secure in the sense that anyone who cracks my dropbox account isn't likely to come armed with the tools to crack my vault in any reasonable amount of time. Whereas if someone does break into 1password, they know what they are coming for, and they know they will have to crack the vaults reasonably fast to do anything useful. But it is probably a small deference. So I will try with the 1pass sync. If I put it in there and don't like how things work out for some reason, will I be able to convert back to a local vault and dropbox?

Hi @Randell - Great question! You can read a little more on how we protect your data here -

    https://support.1password.com/1password-security/

If you decide our 1Password memberships didn't work out, you can copy the items back to your Primary vault -

    https://support.1password.com/move-share-items/#to-move-items-in-the-apps

I hope this helped and let us know if you have any additional questions :+1:

okay, well I am striking out. I created an account and am logged in on my windows web browser. I got an account key. When I go to the mac and try to add the account it want's a sign-in address. Using my email gets me the cryptic No response code from server error. I tried just typing my username, it adds .1password.com to the end... seemed like bogus, but when I hit sign in, it tells me my account key doesn't match and should start with **** but that doesn't match any key I have seen.
