No dark mode for browser extension unless app is in the menu bar

The only way to get the (Safari) browser extension in dark mode is to have "Show mini app icon" enabled. If I disable it, the browser extension is "light". Is there any way around this?

    @surfmonkey89,

    I took a look at the code behind dark mode and it does appear that it requires the presence of the mini icon in order to display in dark mode. I don't see any way around that requirement at this time.
