Yahoo Login

When I login to Yahoo, I only get the user name automated. The password doesn't come up so I have to paste it manually from the 1Pass login. I have the extra authentication turned on so after the password is manually entered I enter the verification mode. It seems like both the username and password should appear without having to manually enter the password. Can this be done?

Also, 1Password doesn't play nice with Barrons, which has lots of redirection etc. Is there a workaround to get Barrons to work with one click from 1Passwors?

Thanks

    Hey @williewonder,

    Thanks for writing in!

It sounds like the web form details or the website stored in your Login Item for Yahoo and Barrons might be incorrect. This can sometimes happen if the website changed after your Login Item was created.

Can you try recreating the Login Items for these two sites and see if the fields get filled properly?

We have a support guide to walk you through creating a new Login Item manually. Following it will ensure your new Login Item has the correct website address and web form details.

How to save a Login manually in your browser

Let me know if creating a new Login manually works for you on these websites.

I've outlined the steps. I didn't expect 1Password to do more than the initial user name and password, leaving the 2nd level authentication choice to be done manually. I'm not sure why.

    1) Click login. Site URL : https://login.yahoo.com/beta/?.src=ym&.intl=us&.lang=en-US&.done=https://mail.yahoo.com

    2) Receive Sign In panel with user name with a NEXT button.
URL: https://login.yahoo.com/account/challenge/password? (followed by long string of data)

    3) Click NEXT button.

    4) Receive panel asking for password
URL: https://login.yahoo.com/account/challenge/challenge-selector? (followed by long string of data)

    5) Paste password from 1Password; click Sign In box

    6) Receive panel to select 2nd level authenticate method, phone or text

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Yahoo is one of those sites that are trying new things. Personally, with all the data breaches Yahoo had in the least year or 2, I would drop them like a rock.

@williewonder Are you using open and fill or are you manually navigating to the site and then choosing the Login from the 1Password toolbar button in your browser? I did just try using open and fill and it worked for me, but it worked fine for me. So, I'm not sure what might be happening in your situation…

I've been choosing from the list of logins in the toolbar button.

Actually many sites I use frequently don't work well with 1Pass now. Sites like Wall Street Journal, Barrons, Verizon etc. Then there is the problem where half the time the password screen fills out but I have to hit enter to continue. Probably a timing issue. But it's clear 1Pass doesn't consistently prove a single click sign on. And, with many sites going to two factor verification for security 1Pass seems unable to process.

I agree with the comment on Yahoo.

@williewonder: First, definitely update macOS to the latest version, as it includes important security fixes...and if you're using Safari, that includes critical updates for that as well. Either way, if you'll let us know the exact URLs you're having trouble with and browser version(s) you're using, we can test this and possibly offer a solution, workaround, or improve things in the future for you. Thanks in advance! :)

    I'm using macOS :

    macOS Sierra
    Version 10.12.5 (16F73)

    Browsers:
    Chrome Version 58.0.3029.110 (64-bit)
    Firefox 53.0.3 (64 bit)
Safari Version 10.1.1 (12603.2.4) not used often.

The two Yahoo URLs ( both set for 2 level authentication) are:

    https://login.yahoo.com/beta/?.src=ym&.intl=us&.lang=en-US&.done=https://mail.yahoo.com
    https://login.yahoo.com/beta/config/login_verify2?.intl=us&.src=ym
    www.barrons.com

    Thanks

@williewonder: I don't see any login forms at all at www.barrons.com but the "Log In" takes me to this page:

    https://sso.accounts.dowjones.com/login?client=5hssEAdMy0mJTICnJNvC9TXEw3Va7jfO&protocol=oauth2&state=brand=barrons&opts=0&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.barrons.com%2F&redirect_uri=https://accounts.dowjones.com/auth/callback&scope=openid idp_id&response_type=code&nonce=45aafe75-4a64-455a-9104-40c9ddecc10a&connection=DJldap&ui_locales=en-us-x-barrons-0&mg=prod/accounts-barrons#!/signin

Is that where you're trying to login? I was able to save and fill a login there using 1Password. Manually saving a new login for the site will allow 1Password to save additional information from the form to fill better. Just try these steps to save the login manually:

    1. Navigate to the website
    2. Enter your login credentials
    3. Click the 'keyhole' icon to bring up the extension
    4. Click the 'gear' icon for Settings
    5. Click Save New Login
    6. Give it a name and Save
    7. Close the webpage and select your new login from the extension to have 1Password Go & Fill
    8. Submit the form manually if you have autosumbit disabled

In the case of Yahoo, 1Password cannot fill both a username and password for you on that page because there exists only a username/email field. 1Password will not take an action without you telling it to, so if you want it to fill the password on the second page, you'll need to click the browser extension button or press ⌘ \. Often it's necessary to save a separate login item in cases where it's split across multiple pages like this, but here you should be able to use a "generic" (for lack of a better term) login you create by hand in the main 1Password app itself:

    1. Open the main 1Password app
    2. Create a new Login item
    3. Fill in the username, password, and website fields
    4. Save it and try it in the browser

In this case, since 1Password has no information about the page, it won't be trying to fill the form it originally saved even if it changes. It will just do its best to find a username and password field to fill when you tell it to. Let me know if that helps! :)
