1Password Duo

$2.99 1Password for one person
$3.99 1Password Duo for couples
$4.99 1Password for families of up to five people.

I’m curious as to whether there are more couples subscribing to 1Password than larger families. If so, it seems a little unfair for couples to subsidize larger families. If not, then the impact to revenue should be minimal, shouldn’t it?

Does anyone else think a plan for couples should be a thing?

HI @Jade - thanks for the suggestion! I doubt we'll be implementing that one, but you never know. Part of it has to do with not offering too many options for users, either within 1Password itself or in the purchasing phase, but another part is that a 1Password Families account which allows up to five family members is already cheaper per month than two individual accounts, so rather than "subsidizing" families, couples signing up for a 1Password Families account are in fact saving money compared to what they'd be paying combined, on Individual plans.

Internally, many of us think that an individual account should be more expensive than a Families account.

The main reason for that is that users in the Family account could help each other. And, most importantly, Family Organizers can recover accounts if someone in the family forgot the password. This is impossible in individual accounts and it is a huge pain point for both us and our users.
