1Password mini doesn't think Safari extension is installed

iPassword mini says "Add Safari extension..." even though Safari has the extension installed. The Safari extension does appear to be able to communicate with 1Password.

I tried quitting and restarting 1Password mini, quitting and restarting Safari, and reinstalling the Safari extension.

Chrome and Firefox don't have this problem.

1Password Version: 6.8.4
Extension Version: 4.6.12
OS Version: macOS 10.12.6

    Forgot to mention: Safari 11.0.1.

Rebooted, now it works. But that doesn't explain what went wrong before.

  • This can happen when the extension fails to connect to 1Password for whatever reason. 1Password will display that prompt if it detects that there's a browser front-most, but that there's no 1Password Browser Extension for that browser connected to 1Password.

The whole mechanism that's used for communication between the browser and 1Password is getting reworked at the moment. I'm hopeful that it'll catch even more of these scenarios and handle them more gracefully.
