Difficulty when login box is a pop-up from main URL

Many sites seem to do this. To login you click a button on the home page. The home page dims and a pop-up appears. E.g.
https://www.ica.art/
https://www.superdrug.com/
https://www.johnsons-seeds.com/ (where login takes you to a third-party)

Many others are even worse. You have to manually click a Sign In/Sign Up button which always gives a Sign up pop-up, and you then have to click another link to get to an existing user Sign in pop-up. E.g.
https://www.ilovefreegle.org/
https://www.loveknitting.com/

Is there a way to handle such sites elegantly in 1P?

Often the best way it to manually click through to the login pop-up. Sometimes it actually appears already-populated so 1P has done something in the background. Mostly the login pop-up is unpopulated but can be filled in with Control-\ (but not always).

I accept it's the web sites fault, but that's the world. It isn't going to change for the convenience of 1P users.

@markv: Unfortunately there isn't anything 1Password can do if sites require you to click to bring up the login form in a popup. Sometimes there's a separate login form, like this:

    https://uk.patronbase.com/_ICA/Login/

Don't ask me why, but that's where I ended up due to a failed login attempt at https://www.ica.art/

Otherwise you'll need to bring up the login form yourself. 1Password cannot click things for you. But, as you noted, depending on how the site is designed, 1Password may be able to fill before that if the form is already present but hidden. And in either case, once the login form is shown, Ctrl \ can often have 1Password fill and submit it for you.

So while 1Password can't do what you're hoping here, we'll continue to try to improve it in other ways. Cheers! :)

Many thanks brenty. That patronbase url works as a direct login for ICA. One problem solved... quite a few to go!

In the overall scheme of things, it's sad that so many sites make login a pain, and so password-manager-hostile.

You won't get any disagreement from me @markv  We (password managers) aren't the only that would likely benefit either. Anything that helps a password manager in all likelihood would be beneficial for anybody that uses accessibility features. Dedicated login pages make a page perfect for bookmarking along with readily identifiable fields for features such VoiceOver can help with navigating. We can dream.
