Password Keyboard?

I've found that there are a lot of situations where the 1password extension is not available, such as when logging into an app. Would a 1Password Keyboard fix this or is there some limitation with iOS that wouldn't allow that?

@huynhthi870: A keyboard isn't really an option on iOS since there are a lot of limitations there due to security constraints. A lot of apps (1Password included) will also disallow 3rd party keyboards for security reasons. Can you tell me more about where you're running into issues using the 1Password iOS extension though? Maybe there's something I can suggest. :)

  • Just to add to what brenty said... one of the limitations, and the one that really matters the most, is that iOS itself disallows the usage of 3rd party keyboards in password fields. A 1Password keyboard wouldn’t be able to fill passwords, which would seemingly hamper it enough to make it not worth building.

The best way forward right now is to encourage app developers to include password manager support in their apps. We have a helpful link that developers can learn from here:

The Password Manager API in iOS 12 should be a great way forward for 1P integration.

Can't wait to see what you guys do with it.

    Password Manager API
Access passwords stored in third-party password managers directly from the QuickType bar in apps and in Safari (requires third-party adoption).

Indeed, looking forward to seeing how it develops in the coming months. :)
