Dear 1Password Team,

this will be my last post to you and the community.
I decided to quit the usage of 1PW entirely.

As a long-standing 1PW user I made the experience, since I
decided to upgrade to the membership option, that the 1PW apps
and all around won't fit my needs and expectations anymore.

I was with you since v4 - but now it's time for me to say good bye.

What I liked about 1PW:

  • the extremely beautiful, intuitive and easy to use iOS app
  • 1PW's security concept and its audits
  • the (mostly) friendly support team
  • the reliable sync and the technical 1PW ecosystem at all

What I don't like about 1PW:

  • inconsistencies between all apps (I used it on each supported plattform)
  • missing translations/localizations
  • inconsistent implementation of the markdown feature (read a lot of discussions about)
  • re-ordering of custom fields (sometimes possible, sometimes not)
  • empty categories won't disappear from the sidebar
  • no possibility to clean up my personal UI to my personal needs (eg. hide categories)
  • developer's priorities seems to lie on developing new features instead of maintaining existing ones
  • 1PW7 for Mac looks terrible in my eyes - eg. fonts are too small. Why are TOTPs are shown at the top and not in their section? Why is it only in the Mac app and not in the Windows App?

The explanation above seems to be trivial but when I read through the forums
and support articles, I read nothing but excuses stammering by the 1PW support team.
I read some posts of users that are complaining about the same issues but there were
no, or almost no, tangible statements by the support team about future plans or ETAs.

Guys, you offer a service which is not very cheap.
Listen to your customers, your users.
Make your users feel home with your software.

Thank you for everything.
