Switching between keyboards and getting stuck

I’m taking a class that requires me to have Italian as an option for the keyboard language. I did that but when I switched back to English 1Password got stuck in Italian and I couldn’t log in. It only went away when I deleted Italian from the keyboard options but I need to have Italian as an option and I cannot have this problem happen again. How can I log in via an English language keyboard when it gets stuck on a foreign language? Has this ever happened to anyone else?
