Why can I only sign in through web browser?

in 1Password 7 for Windows

I have a 1Password account, I know my master password, and my secret key, and I can sing in through Firefox browser add on, but I cannot sing in through the application ( does not recognize my password). Why not?

    @alichtma: If you have setup the 1Password app using a local (Primary) vault sync'd with iCloud, you will need to enter its Master Password to unlock the app; that's entirely separate from your 1Password membership account. Do you have all of your data in your 1Password account already, so that it is accessible if you sign into https://start.1password.com in your browser?
