Share vault with another paid user outside our Team

As an IT services provider, we often create Guest accounts for our clients so they can track the passwords we have on file for them.

Recently we did this and our client liked 1Password so much they signed up for their own Teams account.

How should we go about sharing our vault with them in this scenario? That is, they want to have their own vaults, but have the vault we shared with them show up along side their other ones. When logging into the website, it appears they have to select which account to use (their guest account or their full account). Is there a way to show both simultaneously?

As an added bonus, would it be possible for them to re-share the vault? For example: if we grant access to our vault for their internal IT liaison who wants to share it with his backup, is that possible?

Thanks,
Stephen

  • Hi @Steviestar

Thanks for the question. I'd be happy to help with that. There isn't a way to see both memberships in the web app, but all of our native apps (1Password for Mac, 1Password for Windows, 1Password for iOS, 1Password for Android) as well as our 1Password X browser extension have the ability to sign into multiple memberships and can show an "All Vaults" view, with the contents of vaults from both memberships. All of these apps are included with membership.

As an added bonus, would it be possible for them to re-share the vault? For example: if we grant access to our vault for their internal IT liaison who wants to share it with his backup, is that possible?

There would be two ways to accomplish this:

    1. You could invite their IT liaison to your membership as a guest in the same way you've done for your client. This would be the recommended solution.
    2. You client could share the credentials for their guest account within your membership with their liaison. This has the disadvantage that you would be unable to differentiate between the two of them. E.g. if either one of them edits an item you wouldn't be able to tell which person did that

    I hope that helps!

Thanks, Ben! Very helpful. I'll let them know to get crackin' on downloading the App so they can see everything in one place.

    Cheers,
