Activating the 1P extension for Safari does not work

Hi,
out of the sudden my 1P Safari extension stopped working. So I deactivated it and then was going to activate it again. But the checkbox in the extension pane is not working. I cannot check it. It seem that I cannot activate any other deactivated extension either.
Any ideas what to do?

    Interestingly, after 2 hours of rebooting my MB, restarting apps and shaking my head... all went back to normal.
