Upgrade to Family account from Apple store suscription

Hi there,
I want to migrate to a family account, but the "invite" button is not available for me, having subscribed on the App Store.
Is it still the case that I need to cancel with Apple, let you know, and you will reactivate on your end? - this was the very clunky solution suggested in a 2017 post.
