partial GUI blackouts on resizing

Hey,

I'm sure this is some kind of limitation with electron apps, right?

Please mind that the full window blackout does only happen with Xorg, not Wayland :+1:

I hope this is able to be improved with some performance tuning :unamused:

Thanks ~lumarel

    Hi @lumarel,

    Thanks for reporting this.

I don't see any full blackout redraw (or I blinked) on Gnome 3.36.3 on Pop!_OS with Xorg.

However, I do see it in Slack. I suspect this is to do with Electron's graphics library interaction with Xorg, since it doesn't happen on Wayland.

  • Okay thanks for the info @MikeT

That might be it, I hope this is just a instability in the packets of my current OS.

In the meantime, we do plan to do more performance optimizations over time. We did make some windowing optimizations in the last update but that's just the start.

  • Always nice to hear :+1:
(I wouldn’t think of anything else of you, these massive performance improvements on the Windows side just speak for themselves :chuffed: )

The work done in there actually inspired some of the work that's in 1Password for Linux.
