vault keys for encryption/decryption

I have a follow up question to the now closed discussion "Why only 2048 bits for account private keys?"

Do OPvaults share this asymmetric encryption design or are they solely encrypted/decrypted with a 256 bit symmetric key?
I'm assuming no since they're not designed for sharing, but please clarify.
