How does 1P link an App login to a website login?

I have noticed that many apps that I already have a website login for will be filtered when I use the app to login.

I have my own software that has a website version and an app version. I noticed that it 1P does not pre filter the choice of logins based on the app/website.

Can someone explain how does 1P take the app name and figure out which website login goes with the app, or at least filters the list down?

If I need to make a change in my App, obviously thats what I want to do so it works for other users.
iOS is my concern at this time.
