1Password7 on one of my Macs has switched to a "read only" mode so that I cannot edit items.

1Password 7 on one of my Macs (but not on the other or on my iPhone) has switched to a "read only" mode so that I cannot edit items in the
vault. When I try to change the mode, I am asked to sign in to my account and scan a setup code or to log in manually, both of which require information I cannot find. What's up? Can I use a time machine backup of certain files to restore 1Password 7 to its previously functional form?
