The Developer of Ergonis Software responded to me about the problems filling out forms on his shopping cart page. He too is a 1Password user. He mentioned that the form filling using Safari works. On Firefox, 1Password does not work. It gets confused and cannot differentiate between shipping and billing.

    Hey @FogCityNative,
Thanks for writing in about this.

We're constantly working on improving 1Password's autofilling abilities, and adding support for multiple forms on a single page is definitely on our to do list. However, on this particular website this feature won't help, due to the following reasons:

    • This is a single form. The billing address is not a separate form and therefor 1Password will try to autofill it regardless, as if it is still a part of the shipping address area.
    • The developer of the website does not comply with the HTML standard and naming convention of autofillable fields, which already makes things harder than they should be. This guide might also help the developer of that website: https://support.1password.com/compatible-website-design/

Our autofill is quite different than browsers built-in autofill mechanism, which is an advantage in most instances, but a disadvantage in this specific example and website. In this instance "simpler" autofilling works better, while our smart autofilling logic doesn't perform well :chuffed:

As I mentioned, we do keep working on improving things non-stop, but every website is different and therefor it is a never-ending task. It would really help if all websites will adopt the standards, but that's a lot to ask at the moment.

I will forward your comment to the developer. He's a super nice guy and very responsive. Since he uses 1Password himself, he will very likely fix his site field names if it doesn't mess up users not using 1Password. Thanks for a very complete answer.
