Dyn claims to support 2FA per https://help.dyn.com/managing-2fa/ and 1Password alerts logins for Dyn as 2FA capable.

But it seems like a dyn.com DynDns account does not allow setting up 2FA for typical sceanirios - esp. for home user accounts. The documentation seems to refer a different product (one involving several users and accounts) but not applicable to the home-use product.

How do we handle this case in 1Password - can 1Password be updated to stop alerting somehow? A better tag than '2FA' could be helpful in this case to indicate that no 2FA is possible.

    Hey @vatsan .

    1Password utilizes the https://twofactorauth.org/ database to show which websites support 2FA and which aren't, but as you've come to discover, some websites only support partial or limited 2FA. We don't do that differentiation as the database doesn't have that API, so 1Password will alert you there is 2FA available for the website.

    The solution here is indeed to add the 2FA tag to the login item, which will turn off the banner notification.
    Alternatively, you can just add a one-time passcode type field to the login item, which will also turn off that banner, but it will show a 2FA code that has no use and might confuse you in the future if you forget that you put it there as a dummy 2FA field.

    Thanks @ag_yaron - appreciate the background.

    https://twofactorauth.org/api/v2/tfa.json seems to give this information about Dyn:

            "Dyn": {
                "url": "https://dyn.com/",
                "img": "dyn.png",
                "doc": "https://help.dyn.com/2-factor-authentication/",
                "exception": "Currently only supported for the Managed DNS & Email Delivery platforms (via DynID). Eventually DynID (and 2FA) will be rolled out to all platforms (no ETA).",
                "tfa": [
                    "sms",
                    "totp"
                ]
            },

    Can 1Password consider including the exception text along with the doc url (which seems to be used for Learn how to enable two-factor autentication.` link) in the *Two Factor Authentication Available banner text in Watchtower? This might help users like me from having to spend a great deal of time rediscovering this information.

    Hey @vatsan ,

    That's not something we're likely to do, as I'm sure most users (who are not as tech savvy as you) will find this even more confusing, and adding such random text in our app is not a good idea in general, UI/UX wise. :)

    I do appreciate the suggestion here, I'll forward this info to our developers and see if they can utilize it in some other manner that won't affect/confuse some users negatively.
    Thank you for the feedback and info!

    Thanks - Once again I appreciate the consideration. I realize there is a genuine need to expose good clean/readable information, and I concede that it’s better to err on the side of clarity.
