Unable to login to 1 Password 8 Mac OS

I followed the instructions on https://1password.community/discussion/122136/1password-8-for-mac-early-access-🥰#latest in order to install to my mac. I uninstalled 1Password 7 first, etc etc.

When I try to sign-in to 1 Password on my mac I enter my email, secret key, and master password correctly but I only see a message in red:

We weren't able to sign-in to your account. Maybe there's a typo? Check your sign-in details and try again.

Am I correct to be using my master password as the "password" in this prompt? This is very confusing. I am able to sign in to the web using these credentials. Is the auth for 1PW 8 broken?

  • Hi @billderose, thanks for contacting us about this. I'm sorry to hear you've encountered this issue.

You are correct that the "password" field is where you type the account password you normally use to login to the app. 👍

Given that you feel confident you are entering your password correctly, and that you're able to log into 1Password.com with those same details, I think it's likely that something has gone amiss with the 1Password configuration on your device. Not to worry - I have reached out to our Mac specialists, who will help you with next steps.

Thanks for your patience with this, and we'll be in touch soon!
