Changed password now I can't login

I change my password Now I can't login. I wrote my password down and typed it in correctly. Now I am locked out of my life.
What Is the best way to proceed when this happens?

OS Version: Windows 10

    What did you do to get it back?? What went wrong? Would be nice to know, so others will know what happened and the fix?
