Automatic updater - focus stealing

The automatic updater for the Mac app stole keyboard focus from the app I was using at the time, breaking the flow of my work. I don't want to choose between staying secure (via automatic updates), and having my work undisturbed. Please consider changing the UX of the auto-update so that it does not interrupt the user's task.

  • Thank you for the feedback on this, @rollcat. We've changed this behavior in 1Password 8, which is currently available in Early Access. If you'd like to give it a try instructions can be found here.

  • @harczuk I'm sorry to hear that you're running into issues with updates. If you'd like to disable automatic installation of updates and you're running the website version of 1Password 7 for Mac then follow these steps:

    1. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
    2. Click on 1Password 7 next to the  in the menu bar.
    3. Click on Preferences.
    4. Click on Updates
    5. Uncheck "Automatically install updates".

You can also always read our release notes on our website: 1Password for Mac Release Notes

Let me know if that helps. :)
