Safari extension error in MacOS Monterey

After installing the 1Password extension, Safari (v 15.1) 1throws this error when trying to enable the extension: "Safari detected an app or service that interfered with clicking". It's done this for other password managers I've tried to install as well. Went through Apple's tech bulletin on this but it made no difference: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT211233.

Has anyone successfully overcome this issue?

    You did well with that article. It would have been the one I suggested. Did you try the steps in safe mode? That has helped everyone I have assisted. If you continue to have trouble, one of the extensions team may have a better suggestion. We may also need to take a deeper dive and request diagnostic information.
