1password as SSH Agent not working with OpenSSH 8.9

Hi,

First of all, sorry to post this in the Linux community, rather than linux-beta. I can't seem to figure out how to get access to that category.

I've been trying to use 1password as a SSH agent on my archlinux machine. 1password is installed using AUR (1password-beta) and I enabled the SSH agent.

However, it didn't work as it used to be on my other linux box. SSH logs say that it failed to communicate with the agent.

Opening 1p in a terminal shows:

INFO 2022-03-01T14:03:12.531 tokio-runtime-worker(ThreadId(8)) [1P:ssh/op-agent-controller/src/desktop.rs:283] SSH Agent has started.
WARN 2022-03-01T14:03:24.993 tokio-runtime-worker(ThreadId(7)) [1P:ssh/op-ssh-agent/src/codec.rs:38] failed to decode agent message
WARN 2022-03-01T14:03:24.993 tokio-runtime-worker(ThreadId(7)) [1P:ssh/op-ssh-agent/src/lib.rs:177] failed to receive agent request(Protocol), dropping client

Downgrading openssh from 8.9 to 8.8 fixes this, which is a perfectly fine workaround for me.

Cheers,

  • There's a new beta version that will be released today that contains a fix for this, if you don't have auto-updates enabled, click the Check for Updates button in the 1Password preferences.

  • Awesome, thanks
