Open and fill doesn't work with local vault credentials

Options

When selecting credentials from a local vault, and clicking on the "open and fill" button, the URL is opened but the credentials are not filled.

Hey @acirovic! Opening and filling from the app requires a connection to the browser to fill your logins. That connection is made possible through the extension, which has to be installed in your browser. The issue here seems to be that you do not have our classic extension installed. That's the extension that is needed to open and fill logins from a local vault.

I definitely recommend setting up the classic extension to get things working with your local vaults: https://support.1password.com/cs/1password-classic-extension

I hope that helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Similarly, regular fill (command-backspace) is also broken by installing the current 1Password browser extension - and the fix is to install Classic. It seems like local vaults are going away...

  • Hi @paolo_c0:

⌘+\ is available with both the classic extension and 1Password in the browser (with the 1Password desktop app installed). If you have a single Login item for the website you're on and the login fields are visible, pressing ⌘+\ will fill the Login item, and if there's multiple Login items for the site, 1Password will show the in-line menu with the available Login items for the site.

@Jack.P_1P command-backspace is available in the non-classic extension, yes - that's not in question. But it does not complete (search and supply) items from local vaults.

  • Hi @paolo_c0:

As you noted, 1Password 7 will be the last version of 1Password to support standalone vaults. Future versions of 1Password (as well as our newer 1Password in the browser extension) only support 1Password memberships. One of our founders, Dave, wrote a post a few years back about why we love 1Password memberships: Why We Love 1Password Memberships
