I is there any use or purpose of retaining the files that appear on Dropbox where my 1Password was syncing to? Now that I have paid membership with secret key etc,, looks like my 1Password is syncing to 1Password server instead. Am I correct (more or less). Can I delete the 1password files that were placed in Dropbox? Thanks

Yep! If you've verified that all of your data is accessible via https://start.1password.com then it is safe to remove those sync files from Dropbox. 😃
